“In January, Wingfield connected with five other BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) poets from across America on social media and realized there was a community like her, even if she couldn’t see it in person. The group with a goal of promoting and supporting BIPOC women poets has been titled Tenderheart Collective. It includes Wingfield along with Yasmine Bolden, a Black writer from Northern Virginia; Michelle Garcia, a Filipina poet from Northern Virginia; Molly Rufus, a BIPOC poet from D.C.; Sofía Aguilar, a Chicana writer from Los Angeles; and Salma Alejo, a Latina poet based in Los Angeles.”
