HEAVEN IS A MOSH PIT: the zine
HEAVEN IS A MOSH PIT is a zine anthology about punk, protest, and poetry that celebrates immigration, family, and community, that loudly and proudly resists ICE, U.S. imperialism, and all forms of state-sanctioned violence against our communities. Co-edited by L.A. poets Sofía Aguilar and Paula Macena, the collection features selected writing, photos, and artwork from 16 artists who have meaningful ties to the immigration/migration and anti-ICE movements.
They create and find joy outside of the systems that oppress us. Imagine a different future. Burn down what cannot be salvaged or saved and rewriting different rules. The poets, writers, and artists in these pages ask you not only to witness, sit with, and stare in the face of government violence and brutality, and the absence and harm it creates, but also to imagine a different version of heaven. One where we are all liberated and free. Where every life is treated like it matters. Like it is sacred. Through their experiences, memories, and imaginations, we hope you envision a new future with us and do the hard work of making it something real and beautiful, just within our grasp.
All proceeds from the zine will be distributed between communities affected by ICE, specifically assisting immigrants and protestors based in Los Angeles.
