MENTIROSA: the zine

Liar. Deceitful. Untrustworthy. So often, women and femmes are accused of exaggerating for attention, making up stories, lying just to be troublesome. Even with proof, we are hardly ever believed solely based on our own testimony. Co-edited by LA-based Latina poets Sofía Aguilar and Celeste Alyssa Gomez, MENTIROSA is a zine anthology of creative writing and visual art that invokes the revolutionary spirit of a mentirosa, envisioning a future where we are all believed based on our word, and therefore set free.

The collection features a curated selection of poems, journal entries, and visual art from 16 artists who discuss the last time they told a lie, kept a secret, embraced their wrongs and untruths, their resistance and rebelliousness, and most of all, a refusal to be tamed.
